Lung Cancer: Acupuncture as a Complementary Treatment Method

Lung cancer is a serious disease that develops when cells in the lungs mutate and begin to grow uncontrollably. It is one of the most deadly forms of cancer, associated with a range of symptoms including persistent cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, and weight loss. While traditional treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy are standard treatments, alternative approaches like acupuncture are being investigated for their potential benefits in the treatment of lung cancer.

Acupuncture as a Treatment Method:
In the case of lung cancer, acupuncture focuses on relieving symptoms such as pain, nausea, and fatigue, as well as strengthening the immune system and improving quality of life.

Research Findings:
Several studies have examined the effect of acupuncture as a complementary treatment for lung cancer. A meta-analysis published in "Cancer Nursing" in 2018 concluded that acupuncture treatment as a supplement to conventional treatment for lung cancer could reduce pain, nausea, and fatigue in patients.

A randomized controlled trial conducted by Mao et al. and published in "Cancer" in 2019 found a significant improvement in quality of life and a reduction in nausea and vomiting in lung cancer patients receiving acupuncture.

Perspectives:
While further research is needed, preliminary results suggest that acupuncture may be a useful complementary treatment method for lung cancer. Acupuncture has been shown to reduce symptoms such as pain, nausea, and fatigue, as well as improve the quality of life for patients suffering from this serious disease.
